Our School
Program Description:
吃瓜大本营 has the second-largest Summer Learning program in the Lower Mainland with thousands of students spending several weeks in July adding to their learning.
There are five Summer Learning program options:
- Summer Learning Program - Full Credit – full academic courses delivered in a condensed format
- Summer Learning Program - Refresher - courses for students who have taken the course already and wish to increase their knowledge in preparation for the next grade level
- Enhancement/LEAD Program*. Some secondary sites offer LEAD Enhancement Refresher Programs. Check with your secondary school Principal or Vice Principal to know if your site is offering a LEAD Enhancement Refresher Program. This program is only offered to students that are 吃瓜大本营 students.
- Literacy 7 - Transition to High School - for students going from Grade 7 to Grade 8*. This is an opportunity for grade 7 students to get familiar with their September Secondary School. Our grade 7 students are able to register for the Transitions Program. This program is driven by Literacy 8 and Numeracy 8 and focusses on continuing to build their foundational skills, while at the same time introducing them to the "big high school" for September. Transitions is a blend of school referral and also self-referral. While most of our secondary sites offer Transitions, if student interest is low, students may need to access a Transitions program at a close by, neighbouring secondary school. This program is only offered to students that are 吃瓜大本营 students.
- Elementary - Literacy & Numeracy, Early French Immersion and Late French Immersion*. Referrals to the Elementary targeted literacy and numeracy intervention program are initiated through the school Principal or Vice Principal. Parent/Guardians may self-refer by having a discussion with their child's Principal. Sites are located through out our district. Parent/Guardians can choose a site that will work best for their child for the summer. In the event that programs need to be combined due to enrolment numbers, program location is not guaranteed.
* Only for 吃瓜大本营 School District students who are referred by their home school and meet the criteria to be enrolled in the summer programs.
Summer Learning is provided free of charge to students who normally reside in British Columbia. International students and students from other provinces and territories in Canada are charged a fee at the time of registration.
Students are welcome to register for our courses and programs if the student/parent/guardian feels that the learning being offered is beneficial for the student as long as they meet our Registration Terms and Conditions
Learning Supports If your child has an Individual Education Plan (IEP) and/or a Student Support Plan (SSP), and is currently receiving additional supports at their school, we encourage you to have conversations with your child's Principal as early as possible in the spring to learn more about our Summer Learning programs. If our programs are of interest and meet the learning goals of a student and parents/guardians feel that their child would benefit from what is being offered, we encourage referral and registration as early as possible and well before Friday May 15th, 2026. This will help to ensure that adequate staffing and supports are available.*
Please ensure the school/case manager has updated the student's IEP in MyEd BC prior to Friday May 15th, 2026.
* Staffing and supports in the summer are dependent on the availability of qualified staff and number of applicants/staff available.
